Abstract

|
Obijective : To describe a rare case of radiologic calcifications of the stylohyoid ligament and to review the current literature regarding calcifications of the stylohyoid ligament.
Methods : A retrospective chart review and the evaluation of cervical spine X-ray were performed.
Results : A 42-year-old male patient present with cervicalgia with traffic accident, incidentally found calcification of the stylohyoid ligament on cervical spine X-ray.
Conclusion : The literature on calcifications of the stylohyoid ligament is limited. A very few has been written in the radiological journal of this country on the calcified stylohyoid ligament. And calcification of neck can easily overlooked at the cervical spine X-ray during cause evaluation of cervicalgia. But calcification of the stylohyoid ligament is an X-ray findings that has been considered a possible cause of cervicalgia since 1930s (Eagle WW). So careful evaluation of the radiologic findings of the stylohyoid ligaments is need for the patient with cervicalgia.
